Note from Mark “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:19 As mentioned below, God is a work in many areas of Neighborhood Church. We are praising God for the people who have said “yes” to Jesus for the first time, those who have been baptized, the people who are leaning into community and taking next steps in their faith. We are praising God for growth in many areas of ministry and see God doing a new thing! God is on the move! As we go through the last month of 2023, we are trusting God to continue His work in 2024 and are seeing God setting the stage for this. Please be praying and asking God how He would have you invest in His Kingdom this next year (pray, give, go, send). This might mean continuing on where you have been investing or becoming part of something new. Either way, I believe the best is yet to come and my prayer for you is to continue to be part of what God is doing here. MINISTRIESNeighborhood Kids Leader: Karin Sauder, [email protected] A safe place for children to meet Jesus, know Jesus & learn to share Jesus. At Neighborhood Kids we are deep into the spirit of the holidays and remembering the true meaning of Christmas! On November 19th we took over the MCCH Bagged Breakfast as a Kid’s service project. It was fun, and we really learned how much energy it takes to serve, when we bagged nearly two hundred breakfasts for the MCCH men’s shelter. Thanks to Matt Walton for making that experience both fun AND efficient! At the end of the month we had our fun Advent Event with our church family, where we made Advent Wreaths, ate Christmas cookies, and even had a visit from St. Nicholas (thanks Mr. Steve!) who taught us about who he is and the meaning of Christmas ( and gave out gold coins! ) We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and that you are all looking forward to Christmas! Neighborhood Youth Leader: Tim Allen, [email protected] A place for teens to meet Jesus, know Jesus & be encouraged to share Jesus. Before Neighborhood Youth’s Thanksgiving break, the group did a short study on 1 John 2:16-17 (NIV) which states: “For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.” It was a good & challenging topic that resulted in honest reflection and discussion. November concluded with Neighborhood Youth joining the rest of the church family for the fun Advent Event! Worship & Production Team Leader: Mel Neely, [email protected] We are a diverse community of followers of Jesus Christ, empowered by His Spirit with one heart and one mind to invite and lead in declaring His worth. We celebrate the work God did at Chain Breaking Worship with Adaora on Saturday, November 4! God was honored and He brought freedom, healing and wholeness in Jesus's Name. Thank you to Adaora and her team, Pastor Mark, our Neighborhood Church Worship & Production Team, Welcome Team and Luz Ragland for partnering with Mel to make this event possible. To God be the glory! Check out the link below to see some of the event… https://vimeo.com/879156528 The Neighborhood Church Worship & Production team continues to lift high the name of Jesus through our in person and online services. This month Mel Neely and Adaora led worship during our Sunday services along with our dedicated team of instrumentalists and vocalists. On November 19 our faithful drummer, Eric Peacock drummed with the Worship team and preached! Thank you for using your many God-given talents to honor Him at Neighborhood Church, Eric. On Thursday evenings the team continued to engage with the Neighborhood Groups material focusing on the Anchored sermon series. These times were led by Mel. We shared praises and prayer requests, praying for each other and over Neighborhood Church. Stay tuned for the November month in review to hear how God moved during Chain Breaking Worship with Adaora hosted at Neighborhood Church on November 4th. Praise him with the tambourine and dancing; praise him with strings and flutes! Praise him with a clash of cymbals; praise him with loud clanging cymbals. Let everything that breathes sing praises to the LORD ! Praise the LORD ! Psalm 150: 4-6 Our Worship & Production team continues to thrive under the leadership of Jeff Geraci. We are thankful to have a truly multigenerational team with middle school, high school and adult volunteers working together to make our Sunday services in person and online possible. We are routinely using click tracks at our Thursday practices and now on Sunday mornings. Thank you to Matthew Sutton with the team before his move to Florida in mid November. We will miss you, Matthew! The staff continues to meet on a regular basis for planning, prayer and pursuing God's mission of seeing people transformed by Jesus, empowered by the Holy Spirit and launched on mission. The staff is talking about goals for 2024 and how we can more strategically disciple people. We are excited for all the people God has connected with the church and want to help them grow holistically in their life and faith. We are looking at beginning Discipling Triads this year…stay tuned. The staff has reviewed plans for remodeling the church to better serve both the needs of the ministry and community and passed them to the Board of Governance. May God use this building for his purposes. Board of Governance Mark Trinkl (Chair), Evan Homan (Vice Chair), Matt Sale (Treasurer), Sarah Luse (Secretary), Angela Drumm, Steve Beardsley, and Eric Peacock The Board of Governance (BOG) sets boundaries for the Pastor. The Board met on December 11 to approve the budget, review 2024 goals, and continue to look at the building improvements. The Board approved a budget that includes Karin coming on full-time in 2024, and a position for a Greenhouse Church Planter. The building remodeling plans are looking great and we are trusting God to bring that process together in His time. For now, we will continue to maintain the building, as we focus on investing in the people. UPCOMING EVENTSDecember 24: Christmas Eve Candlelight Service
