Note from Mark How do I need to anchor my life more in Jesus? That is a question which we are asking again and again in this current series. We have talked about being anchored in Jesus-centered Community, God’s Word the Bible, God, the Imago Dei and we will have a few more weeks to go. The sense I am getting from people is that these messages are probing beneath the surface of what we believe and how we are living. It is forcing us to ask deeper questions and explore where our lives are truly anchored. My hope and prayer is that as we go through the second month of this series, your lives will be transformed by Jesus and the empowering work of the Holy Spirit in your life. May we stay anchored in him through all of life. MINISTRIES Neighborhood Kids Leader: Karin Sauder, [email protected] A safe place for children to meet Jesus, know Jesus & learn to share Jesus. This has been a very busy month in Neighborhood Kids as we kicked off a new school year. We started with an ice cream social, where all the NKids and volunteers could make their own sundaes, and even make their own ice cream in a bag if they wanted to! Then, the next week we launched our classes with some important changes. Our Little Kids class is now for ages three through kindergarten, and we have started a new curriculum called “The Story for Little Ones”, to introduce them to God’s Big Story for all of us. Big Kids 1 and 2 is a combined class for this year, as we learn “What’s in the Bible”, a curriculum designed to give them a deeper understanding of what’s in God’s Story. Also, we began a kids’ discipleship group for some of our older elementary students who have recently said their first “Yes” to Jesus, and we are excited about all the learning we will be doing. NKids also celebrated FOUR of our kids getting baptized this month: Congratulations to Gigi and Maggie Drumm, Jean Zelaya, and Emily Patton. Thank you so much to all of our teachers and volunteers. We hope you enjoyed the volunteer brunch and your gifts, and that you feel loved and valued. We so appreciate all you do to serve the Lord and our kids! Neighborhood Youth Leader: Tim Allen, [email protected] A place for teens to meet Jesus, know Jesus & be encouraged to share Jesus. Neighborhood Youth kicked off our new semester of gatherings this month. We’re in a new room & excited about the new patio, doors & future completion of the remodel for that space. Worship & Production Team Leader: Mel Neely, [email protected] We are a diverse community of followers of Jesus Christ, empowered by His Spirit with one heart and one mind to invite and lead in declaring His worth. The Neighborhood Church Worship & Production team continues to lift high the name of Jesus through our in person and online services. This month Mel Neely and Adaora led worship during our Sunday services along with our dedicated team of instrumentalists and vocalists. We introduced the new to Neighborhood Church song, “Anthem” to accompany our “Anchored” sermon series: https://youtu.be/WHbJLLWdkk8?si=gnLr2v87ThHaRonG On Thursday evenings the team engaged with the Neighborhood Groups material focusing on our current “Anchored” sermon series. These times were led by Mel. We shared praises and prayer requests, praying for each other and over Neighborhood Church. On Saturday, September 23, Mel and Pastor Mark led an Evening of Worship and Prayer. Thank you to Adaora, Doris, Donna, Richard, Holly, Evan, Jeff and Cathy for serving. It was a beautiful evening to linger in the presence of God as we declared, I’m not in a hurry When it comes to Your spirit When it comes to Your presence When it comes to Your voice I’m learning to listen Just to rest in Your nearness I’m starting to notice You are speaking Praise him with the tambourine and dancing; praise him with strings and flutes! Praise him with a clash of cymbals; praise him with loud clanging cymbals. Let everything that breathes sing praises to the LORD ! Praise the LORD ! Psalm 150: 4-6 Our Worship & Production team continues to thrive under the leadership of Jeff Geraci. We are thankful to have a truly multigenerational team with middle school, high school and adult volunteers working together to make our Sunday services in person and online possible. We are routinely using click tracks at our Thursday practices and now on Sunday mornings. Thank you to Matthew Sutton for coming to do some additional training with the team in September and October.
