LEANING INTO COMMUNITY FOR REAL RELATIONSHIPS
|
Neighborhood Groups are our primary venue for making friends, inviting God's transformation through Scripture and prayer, and living on mission together to make a difference in the world. Our adult Neighborhood Groups are semester based, and meet regularly. Two to three times a year we share a group menu with all the options for the coming semester. We will help you find a group that is the best match for where you are on your spiritual journey, as well as for your schedule. |

GROUP 1: THE PRAYERS OF JESUS
Fridays, 9pm-10pm on Zoom, led by Doris Wang We are to observe Jesus' prayer life recorded in the four Gospels. Before every turning point of Jesus' life, he prayed. Through an inductive Bible study, we will study why, when and how Jesus prayed which can help us learn about His way of life and decision making. GROUP 2 (CLOSED): MY LIFE WORKSHOP Sundays, 2:30pm-4pm at the home of Mark & Mel Neely, led by Matt Sale & Mark Neely. Childcare available. This study is a chance to explore your life and see God’s hand in your journey. Each week we will use a symbol (coin, book, bridge, music, band-aid and treasure) to explore aspects of your life and create a life journey map. There will be plenty of opportunity for personal reflection, small group sharing and forming deeper connections with others. Please note: by signing up to this group you agree to do a weekly reflection based on the study and if you miss a session you will commit to catching up before the next session (each session builds on the previous study). GROUP 3: MY LIFE WORKSHOP Sundays, 5pm-7pm at Neighborhood Church Cafe, led by Mark & Nami Trinkl. Including dinner. Childcare available. See description for Group 2. GROUP 4 (YOUNG ADULTS): MY LIFE WORKSHOP Led by Devin Calhoun See Young Adults page to register. GROUP 5: ROMANS PART 2 (CH. 8-16) Thursdays, 7pm-8:30pm on Zoom, led by Steve Beardsley. Whether you’ve read Romans dozens of times or you’ve never encountered it before, Paul’s letter to the church in Rome has something for us all. It is widely considered one of the most important theological documents in the literary and biblical canon. Our study this term is led by pastor J.D. Greear who continues the study that we began last winter in this important book that J.D. says has been behind many of the most significant moments in Christian history. (For those who didn't catch the first 7 chapters last winter, you are still welcome to join this study!) GROUP 6: DISTORTED IMAGES OF GOD Sundays 2pm-4pm at the home of Christian & Angela Drumm, led by Tim Beal, Christian, & Angela Drumm. Including a light snack. Childcare available. This group will begin on February 2. Though we say God is loving, trustworthy and all-powerful, our actions and thoughts reveal the subtle and not-so-subtle lies we're believing: that God is impossible to please, manipulative, and likely to abandon us. Written with compassion and conviction, this eight-session LifeGuide® Bible Study brings to light our distorted thinking and points us to the truth of who God is ― the great healer who knows us intimately and pursues us with love. GROUP 7: MIRACLES OF JESUS Sundays, 12:15pm-2pm at Neighborhood Church Cafe, led by Solomon Jack & Sarah Luse, hosted by Wendy Geraci. Including lunch. Childcare available. Miracles of Jesus explores all four Gospels. Discover the ways Jesus healed, provided for, calmed, and resurrected the people he encountered. This study is about believing in the power of God who can accomplish anything. There’s nothing too big or too small for us to bring to him. When we take time to learn about the overflowing kindness Jesus demonstrated to all kinds of people through miracles during his time on earth, we realize that he is radically generous, compassionate, and honoring toward all people. GROUP 8: MONEY & WORK Sundays, 12:15pm-2pm at Neighborhood Church in Lower Level, led by Pam & Evan Homan. Including lunch. Childcare available. This group will begin on February 2. Money and work: just the words themselves can cause anxiety. Mortgages, saving for retirement and bottom lines can easily overwhelm us to the point of despair. But God, who "gives us richly all things to enjoy," wants his people to live in freedom, trusting him and learning to manage our gifts wisely and generously. By pointing to his trustworthiness and generosity, these studies can help you rest in the peace he offers. |
