Note from Mark I am writing this fresh off of the General Council with the Alliance in Spokane, WA. I am so grateful to be part of a denomination that is passionate about Jesus as Savior, Sanctifier, Healer, coming King, and bringing the gospel to the ends of the earth. As around 3,000 of us gathered to worship, learn, make decisions on doctrine and policies, and forge relationships with God and one another, I was reminded of the beauty and diversity of this unique family. I am excited about what God is doing in the Alliance and in Neighborhood Church for His Kingdom purposes. Please take a few minutes to look at some of what happened at General Council. Here is a link to the recap: https://cmalliance.org/stories/ MINISTRIES Neighborhood Kids Leader: Karin Sauder, [email protected] A safe place for children to meet Jesus, know Jesus & learn to share Jesus. This month the theme for Neighborhood Kids was "Confidence: Living Like you Believe God is With You”, and we learned that we can trust God no matter what. Our memory verse was Hebrews 13:6. NKids is sad to say goodbye to Madison, Isabelle, and Isaac Raplee and their parents as they move down to Florida, and we wish them well on their new adventures! We also rejoice with Simone Tisdale as she said her first YES to Jesus and lit up her lightbox! We are so happy to be with her at the start of her life with Jesus. We are getting ready for a fun summer studying the Fruits of the Spirit in Little Kids, and the Books of the Bible in Big Kids! We hope lots of Neighborhood Kids join us! Neighborhood Youth Leader: Tim Allen, [email protected] A place for teens to meet Jesus, know Jesus & be encouraged to share Jesus. This month in Neighborhood Youth we started a new series called "Soundtracks." Each week, students bring a song they have been connecting with recently and take time to explain why they are connecting with it. This series has opened up great conversations and has shown how God can speak to us through music. Worship & Production Team Leader: Mel Neely, [email protected] We are a diverse community of followers of Jesus Christ, empowered by His Spirit with one heart and one mind to invite and lead in declaring His worth. The Neighborhood Church Worship & Production team continues to lift high the name of Jesus through our in person and online services. This month, Mel Neely and Adaora led worship during our Sunday services along with our dedicated team of instrumentalists and vocalists. We introduced the song, “Great Is Thy Faithfulness (Beginning to End)” to the congregation: https://youtu.be/rZ3_12XgVa0 On Saturday, May 27th, Mel, Donna, Richard, Tim, Ben, Holly and Jeff represented the Worship & Production Team at the Derwood Market. We prayed for the vendors and guests and sang Jesus over our Neighborhood…sharing over 20 unique songs of praise! On Thursday evenings the team engaged with devotionals reinforcing our series on Stories of Transformation. These times were led by Holly Mullen, Adaora & Mel. We shared praises and prayer requests, praying for each other and over Neighborhood Church. We look forward to welcoming our newest member, Laura McCrum to the team in early June. Laura will add sweet bluegrass vocals and the mandolin to our Worship mix. Praise him with the tambourine and dancing; praise him with strings and flutes! Praise him with a clash of cymbals; praise him with loud clanging cymbals. Let everything that breathes sing praises to the LORD ! Praise the LORD! Psalm 150: 4-6 Our Worship & Production team continues to thrive under the leadership of Jeff Geraci. We are thankful to have a truly multi-generational team with middle school, high school and adult volunteers working together to make our Sunday services in person and online possible. On Saturday, May 13 had an ear training session with a professional audio engineer to continue to develop our skills. We learned more about mixing and will begin implementing click tracks in the coming months. BECAUSE of God’s faithfulness, our Worship Team is living on mission as a multi-ethnic, multi-generational team being transformed by Jesus, empowered by the Holy Spirit and inviting the Neighborhood Church family to be launched on mission with them! Neighborhood Groups Leader: Mark Trinkl, [email protected] Our primary venue for making friends, inviting God's transformation through Scripture and prayer, and living on mission together. As we begin to look towards Neighborhood Groups in September. Please be praying for how God would have you connect. We believe God is going to use these in a powerful way and we are always looking for great people to host at their homes or lead a group. For the summer, we have once-a-month socials and opportunities for you to put your faith into action by serving at the farmers market or with other ministries. Find out more under volunteer opportunities on the website: www.neighborhoodc.org/volunteer Missions Team Leader: Mark Trinkl, [email protected] We are launched on mission to share and show Jesus from our neighbors to the nations. (Acts 1:8) On a weekly basis, I am hearing stories of how God is using the farmers market to allow us to share and show Jesus to our neighborhood. When you volunteer, you are not simply filling a time spot, but you are positioning yourself to be used by God. If all of the adults in the church volunteer once, there will be more than enough volunteers and a double blessing - as you are both blessed by God and a blessing to our neighbors.
