NOTE FROM MARK February was a great month of welcoming Devin onto staff, having a staff retreat, participating in Neighborhood groups, and having Natalie visiting us about the potential of doing her home service here. There is this sense of anticipation of what God is doing. There is an old saying, “if you pray for rain, make sure to grab an umbrella.” We have been praying for God to raise up younger, diverse leaders. We have been praying for God to have us lean into ethnic diversity. We have been praying about planting churches…and God is answering prayers. My hope for you is that you would continue to be a part of God’s move at Neighborhood Church and invite others into the same. MINISTRIES NEIGHBORHOOD KIDS Leader: Karin Sauder, [email protected] A safe place for children to meet Jesus, know Jesus & learn to share Jesus. This month Neighborhood Kids continued with our regular curriculum programs, but we did have a few special things happen. First, congratulations to Rachel and Henry Nvule on the dedication of their son, Zaneh. We are so happy to come alongside this beautiful family in the raising of their precious child in the faith! We also had a Neighborhood Kids pajama, pizza, and movie night, courtesy of Miss Bonnie! And lastly, Miss Karin, along with Eric Peacock, Landon Neely, and Honna Trinkl, got to go to the NextGen Ministry conference in New Jersey to learn and be encouraged to raise up the next Generation to know and love Jesus! It has been a great month! NEIGHBORHOOD YOUTH Leader: Tim Allen, [email protected] A place for teens to meet Jesus, know Jesus & be encouraged to share Jesus. This past month, Neighborhood Youth continued their RightNow Media study on the book of James led by Francis Chan. The students have also regularly participated in praying for one another and a time of worship. Along with enjoying pizza every week, it's been a great month of hanging out and reflecting on how we are living out our faith in Jesus. WORSHIP & PRODUCTION TEAM Leader: Mel Neely, [email protected] We are a diverse community of followers of Jesus Christ, empowered by His Spirit with one heart and one mind to invite and lead in declaring His worth. The Neighborhood Church Worship & Production team continues to lift high the name of Jesus through our in person and online services. This month, Mel Neely and Adaora led worship during our Sunday services along with our dedicated team of instrumentalists and vocalists. We introduced the new to Neighborhood Church song, “I Want To Be Where You Are” based on Psalm 84 and Psalm 63:1-8: https://youtu.be/g9g_gzjPymA?si=MkHzWUJqMYTzYHzx On Thursday evenings the team engaged with devotionals encouraging each other to look full on the wonderful face of Jesus . These times were led by Mel, Adaora and Eric. Holly, Rachel, Donna, Richard and Mel shared takeaways from their time at The Alliance Worship Conference they attended February 2 and 3. Eric, Landon and Honna spoke on the NextGen conference they attended on February 24. We shared praises and prayer requests, praying for each other and over Neighborhood Church. Praise him with the tambourine and dancing; praise him with strings and flutes! Praise him with a clash of cymbals; praise him with loud clanging cymbals. Let everything that breathes sing praises to the LORD ! Praise the LORD ! Psalm 150: 4-6 An important update on our Production Team from Mel Neely (sharing again in February in case anyone missed it in the January update): First, a huge thank you to our Jeff Geraci for faithfully leading our production team for over two years and much like Evan Homan’s role on the board, Jeff has served on the production team since Pentecost!) Jeff expressed his desire to pass the baton of Production Team leadership and running sound in December 2023 and was hoping we could have the change in place by early to mid 2024. He will continue to serve on presentation (more on that to come)...thank you so much, Jeff! Jeff, Mark Trinkl and I began praying for God’s next steps for the production team. Mark and I agreed that I would take on leadership of the Production Team (continuing to schedule the team, serving as a spiritual leader, planning Production Team meetings, overseeing Production Team purchases, etc.) and have an overseer of sound, an overseer for presentation and Solomon continuing to oversee our live stream team (thank you, Solomon!). Jeff and I met with Bryan Patton in January and we are excited to report that Bryan has agreed to oversee our sound team moving forward! Bryan has years of experience, a degree, and a HUGE heart for sound production, instrumentalists and vocalists. Please welcome, Bryan! Bryan will continue to serve with the band as well. Now back to Jeff...Jeff has agreed to oversee our presentation! So here is the CliffsNotes version: Production Team Leadership Team: Mel Neely - Worship and Production Team Leader Bryan Patton - oversees Sound Jeff Geraci - oversees Presentation Solomon Jack - oversees Live Stream Sound Team - Bryan, Karina, Honna, Joel and Landon Presentation Team - Jeff, Cathy, Joel and Jadon Live Stream Team - Solomon, Serat, Landon We are thankful to have a truly multigenerational team with middle school, high school and adult volunteers working together to make our Sunday services in person and online possible. BECAUSE of God’s faithfulness, our Worship & Production Team is living on mission as a multi-ethnic, multigenerational team being transformed by Jesus, empowered by the Holy Spirit and inviting the Neighborhood Church family to be launched on mission with them! NEIGHBORHOOD GROUPS Leader: Pam Homan, Matt Sale & Mark Trinkl, [email protected] A place for making friends, inviting God's transformation through Scripture and prayer, and being launched on mission together. Neighborhood Groups continue to be the primary way that we "live life together" at Neighborhood Church. Seven groups, a mixture of online and in person, met throughout the month of February with new members being added throughout this month. We have more than 80 adults participating in a variety of topics covering the Old and New Testaments and topical studies. We are intentional about having members share their Jesus stories, specifically, what was your life like before you said your first yes to Jesus and what has your life been like since following Jesus? Or, if you have yet to say your first yes to Jesus, where are you on your faith journey and what prompted you to be part of a Neighborhood Group? Neighborhood Groups provide an avenue for us to live on mission together and minister to one another through prayer and support. Each group is planning to serve together once at the Farmers Market during the upcoming season. We are also looking at adding another layer of discipleship late spring/summer, called Neighborhood Triads, to go deeper in relationship with God and two other people. GREEN HOUSE CHURCH PLANT RESIDENT Devin Calhoun, [email protected] Neighborhood Church Vision: Launch Multiple Gatherings in Multiple Locations (Acts 2:42-47) I am so grateful and thankful to everyone here at Neighborhood Church for the amazing and warm welcome I have received my first month here this past February. Through your kindness and generosity, I have had the chance to meet and eat with many of you, getting to know your stories and the different ways God has moved in your life. Through your different suggestions, tours, and conversations, I have been able to explore and get to know the area. I am looking forward to continuing getting to know everyone here. MISSIONS TEAM Leader: Mark Trinkl, [email protected] To see the people of Neighborhood Church launched on mission to share and show Jesus from our neighbors to the nations. (Acts 1:8) The month of February was a great month of planning for our Global Encounter’s weekend as we had an international worker join us who is serving in the Middle East. We are excited to participate in God’s work both from our neighborhood and to the nations. Would you consider being part of God’s global mission to pray, give, go, and send workers. Find out more information at https://www.neighborhoodc.org/missions.html WELCOME TEAM Leader: Contact Rose Ojwiga, [email protected] We will be a community that is authentic, transparent & creates space for real relationships (Acts 2:42) The welcome team continues to warmly greet everyone that walks through the front doors of Neighborhood Church. If you would like to join the team & serve through hospitality, contact Rose Ojwiga. LEADERSHIP STAFF Mark Trinkl, Tim Allen, Linnea Allen, Melanie Neely, Karin Sauder, Devin Calhoun, & Dana Zetterberg Leader: Mark Trinkl, [email protected] The staff manages Neighborhood Church’s ministry teams. At the beginning of February, we welcomed Devin Calhoun onto staff as a Greenhouse Church Planting Resident. The staff also took a retreat, which was a great time of connecting and talking about the past, present, and future of Neighborhood Church. We are also working on a third part of a discipleship pathway. The first part is our Sunday services, second is Neighborhood Groups and third will be Neighborhood Triads. Triads are a place for a deeper relationship with God and two other people as we are apprenticed in the way of Jesus. Look for more information about Triads over the next few months.
