NOTE FROM MARK He is Risen! He is Risen indeed. "Because He lives, I can face tomorrow, Because He lives, all fear is gone; Because I know He holds the future, And life is worth the living, Just because He lives!” - Song by Bill & Gloria Gaither What a great month with many events and the highlight of celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ! If you were with us on Easter Sunday, I spoke on the resurrection as holy resistance against unbelief, fatalism, and death. There is so much happening in the world around us that is counter-cultural to the gospel of Jesus Christ. And as followers of Jesus Christ, we have an opportunity to be salt and light. We have an opportunity to not become fearful, angry, and disillusioned. Why? Because of the resurrection of Jesus! When we put our faith in Jesus, we know that no matter what life throws at us, we have hope beyond this world. If our dreams are fulfilled or dashed upon the rocks of reality, we have hope that this life is not the end and the best is yet to come. In times of uncertainty, may we hold on tight to the risen Jesus! UPCOMING DATES

April was a very busy month. We started with our annual Spring Carnival, and in spite of some unpredictable weather we ended up with a beautiful day, and 800 people visiting! Thanks to all the volunteers…which included adults, teens, AND some Neighborhood Kids! Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday were highlights, and our Easter Victory parade was FULL of kids this year. What a great morning to celebrate Jesus’s Resurrection! Another special event for April was the birth of Oliver Say, our newest Neighborhood Kid! And on Easter Sunday, TWO of our Neighborhood Kids decided to say their first Yes to Jesus! Congratulations to Gabby Albert and Eden Mein. Eden has lit up her lightbox so the congregation could celebrate with her, and hopefully Gabby will light hers soon. May God be glorified in the lives of His kids! NEIGHBORHOOD YOUTH Leader: Tim Allen, [email protected] A place for teens to meet Jesus, know Jesus & be encouraged to share Jesus. Neighborhood Youth finished up the book of Genesis as we’ve been working through the new Gospel Project curriculum. The students & leaders are enjoying this material. A handful of students and leaders also attended the District Youth Retreat at the end of the month. It was a great time connecting with other students from across the district & the presence of God. Also, as we are in transition in Neighborhood Youth, we would love to get your input. If you are a student or parent/guardian of a student, you are invited to complete a quick survey about your experience, participation, and future of Neighborhood Youth. The Neighborhood Church Worship & Production team continues to lift high the name of Jesus through our in person and online services. This month Mel Neely and Adaora led worship during our Sunday services along with our dedicated team of instrumentalists and vocalists. Thank you to Tim Allen for leading worship at Sunrise Service on Easter. We introduced two new songs, “The King Is In The Room” and “What An Awesome God” to worship the King of kings as we took A Journey With Jesus to Resurrection Sunday! https://youtu.be/AYDKFuxSrJA?si=MkwH0xjOFNGYjyGt https://youtu.be/vFOe4c08dHc?si=ev4ZyKzRfLP3BDOD On Thursday evenings the team engaged with devotionals encouraging each other to look full on the wonderful face of Jesus by incorporating devotional times led by Eric Peacock, Adaora and Mel. We also participated in observing Maundy Thursday together. We shared praises and prayer requests, praying for each other and over Neighborhood Church. Praise him with the tambourine and dancing; praise him with strings and flutes! Praise him with a clash of cymbals; praise him with loud clanging cymbals. Let everything that breathes sing praises to the LORD ! Praise the LORD ! Psalm 150: 4-6 We are thankful to have a truly multigenerational team with middle school, high school and adult volunteers working together to make our Sunday services in person and online possible. We are excited to announce that Sydney Bubb will begin training to run presentation! Devin will continue to come out to practices to learn the sound board with Bryan. We are praying for God to bring more workers to serve Him at Neighborhood Church Shady Grove and Neighborhood Church Rockville! BECAUSE of God’s faithfulness, our Worship & Production Team is living on mission as a multi-ethnic, multigenerational team being transformed by Jesus, empowered by the Holy Spirit and inviting the Neighborhood Church family to be launched on mission with them! NEIGHBORHOOD GROUPS Leader: Pam Homan, Matt Sale & Mark Trinkl, [email protected] A place for making friends, inviting God's transformation through Scripture and prayer, and being launched on mission together. The winter semester of Neighborhood Groups finished during the month of April. Some of what participants appreciated about Neighborhood Groups as indicated in the church-wide survey were: the group discussion, praying together and sharing the "hard stuff" with one another, developing close connections with others and deepening friendships, and sharing and hearing one another's Jesus stories. For the summer months, there will be an opportunity to connect with others in Triads. We will also offer a Women's Book Club that will meet four times over the summer months. Please watch the announcements for both of these upcoming opportunities.
