MONTH IN REVIEW

FEBRUARY 2025

2/1/2025

NOTE FROM MARK
Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire.”
- Hebrews 12:28-29

Do not fear, for I have redeemed you  I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers,  they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
- Isaiah 43:1-3

Over the past month, I have had many conversations with people who have lost their jobs, are feeling very unstable because of all of the changes within the government, changes within government contractors, or are concerned about changes to immigration. In Hebrews 12, we read that the whole world is unstable and shaking…the writer goes on to say that God’s kingdom is unshakable. It is solid ground to stand on when it feels like the earth is quaking around us. Our God is more powerful and a firm foundation to stand on. We also see that it is easy to give into fear and anger instead of faith and trust. God reminds us to not fear but remember the One who has called you by name and is with you in the waters, the rivers, and the fires of difficulties that you face. Please know, as a church, we are praying for you and are here to help. May you keep holding on to the One who is holding on to you.

MINISTRIES

NEIGHBORHOOD KIDS
Leader: Karin Sauder, [email protected]
A safe place for children to meet Jesus, know Jesus & learn to share Jesus.

This month we welcomed not one, but TWO new Neighborhood Kids! Congratulations to Vanessa Aderibigbe (one of our NKids volunteers!) on the birth of her son, Gbeminiyi Yosef Mutairu, on February 6th. Congratulations also to Faith Brown and her family on the birth of Levi Zion Brown on February 26th. We are so excited for these new little lives, and we will love watching them grow.

Neighborhood Kids continues to enjoy our weekly lessons from The Gospel Project each week, and we hope our parents are taking advantage of all the great parent resources that are offered.

NEIGHBORHOOD YOUTH
Leader: Tim Allen, [email protected]
A place for teens to meet Jesus, know Jesus & be encouraged to share Jesus.

Neighborhood Youth started our new curriculum with The Gospel Project. Our series started looking at the life of Abram and has sparked some great conversations amongst the youth. We also held an Envelope Fundraiser for LIFE2025. Thank you to everyone who gave towards this trip.

WORSHIP & PRODUCTION TEAM
Leader: Mel Neely, [email protected]
We are a diverse community of followers of Jesus Christ, empowered by His Spirit with one heart and one mind to invite and lead in declaring His worth.

The Neighborhood Church Worship & Production team continues to lift high the name of Jesus through our in person and online services. This month, Mel Neely and Adaora led worship during our Sunday services along with our dedicated team of instrumentalists and vocalists.
On Thursday evenings the team engaged with devotionals encouraging each other to look full on the wonderful face of Jesus by incorporating devotional times using the 40 Days of Prayer materials. Mel led these times each week. We shared praises and prayer requests, praying for each other and over Neighborhood Church.

Check out the new-to-Neighborhood Church song the team introduced the week Pastor Tim preached on the Grace and Mercy of God.

Praise him with the tambourine and dancing; praise him with strings and flutes!
Praise him with a clash of cymbals; praise him with loud clanging cymbals.
Let everything that breathes sing praises to the LORD ! Praise the LORD!
Psalm 150: 4-6

We are thankful to have a truly multigenerational team with middle school, high school and adult volunteers working together to make our Sunday services in person and online possible. We are excited about the addition of new team members! Natalie is up and running with presentation and is running sound solo! Devin will continue to come out to practices to learn the sound board with Bryan. Solomon is in the process of training two new members for the Live Stream Team as well. God is bringing workers to serve Him and we continue to pray for more!

BECAUSE of God’s faithfulness, our Worship & Production Team is living on mission as a multi-ethnic, multigenerational team being transformed by Jesus, empowered by the Holy Spirit and inviting the Neighborhood Church family to be launched on mission with them!

NEIGHBORHOOD GROUPS
Leader: Pam Homan, Matt Sale & Mark Trinkl, [email protected]
A place for making friends, inviting God's transformation through Scripture and prayer, and being launched on mission together.

The winter semester of Neighborhood Groups is well underway. Over 70 adults are participating in groups studying a variety of topics, including: The Prayers of Jesus, My Life Workshop, Romans, Distorted Images of God, the Miracles of Jesus and Money and Work. We are praying this semester that groups would help forge new friendships, live life together on mission and grow our relationship with God and others. Neighborhood Groups will continue through early April. It's not too late to join a Neighborhood Group. See the church website for more information.

GREEN HOUSE CHURCH PLANT
Devin Calhoun, [email protected]
Neighborhood Church Vision: Launch Multiple Gatherings in Multiple Locations (Acts 2:42-47)

This past month marks one year since I have come to be a part of the team here at Neighborhood Church. I want to thank all of you for the welcoming atmosphere and help you have been in ministry over this past year. We continued building our Core Team for Church Planting this month. All of you who have already answered the courageous call of God to embark on this journey in Church Planting as part of the Core Team, I want to thank you for being willing to take this amazing leap of faith. Also this month I got the opportunity to travel down to Toccoa Falls College with the Church Planting Director of the Mid-Atlantic District of CMA where we were able to talk with students about a future in ministry and I was fortunate enough to be able to give two messages in their Chapel.

MISSIONS TEAM
Leader: Natalie, [email protected]
To see the people of Neighborhood Church launched on mission to share and show Jesus from our neighbors to the nations. (Acts 1:8)

- Began preparing for the Derwood Farmers Market 2025 season.
- Held meetings to prep for 2025 Spring Global Encounters. Chhon, an International Worker in Taiwan, came and spoke; we enjoyed donuts and coffee, Feast of Nations, and a Sunday interview with her.

If you would like to be a part of the team, reach out to Natalie. Our hope and prayer is that all of Neighborhood Church would Pray, Give, Go & Send.

WELCOME TEAM
Leader:  Contact Rose Ojwiga, [email protected]
We will be a community that is authentic, transparent & creates space for real relationships (Acts 2:42)

The Welcome Team continues to provide a warm greeting to visitors and regular church attendees. We are always looking for smiling and friendly people to join the team!
