MONTH IN REVIEW

APRIL 2026

4/1/2026

NOTE FROM PASTOR MARK
Friends, there is Good News!
Creation, Fall, Rescue, Restoration.
Four words to sum up God’s plan across human history. God created everyone and everything and called it “good.” Adam and Eve, with the decision to rebel against God, caused the fall of creation and humanity. The world is now broken, and the relationship with God is broken. That is why Jesus came, God in the flesh. To live a perfect life, die a criminal's death to pay for our rebellion, and rise from the dead to declare with power he is the rescuer of all who believe. Jesus is God's full payment for the sin and brokenness of you and me and all the world. Through Jesus, we can be restored in a relationship with God and bring restoration to the world around us. Through Jesus, we look forward to one day the full restoration of all things.  In April, we dove into this reality and explored what this means for us and the world around us. My hope and prayer is that these four words, Creation, Fall, Rescue, and Restoration, are a framework to encourage you to both internalize and share more openly and freely the Good News that has been given to us.

MINISTRIES

NEIGHBORHOOD KIDS
Leader: Karin Sauder, [email protected]
A safe place for children to meet Jesus, know Jesus & learn to share Jesus.

Neighborhood Kids continues their journey through the Bible. This month we studied Israel’s evil kings, and the prophets God sent to bring His people back to him.  We had a lovely Resurrection Sunday; the Victory Parade was epic and stretched all around the sanctuary!

NEIGHBORHOOD YOUTH
Leader: Eric Peacock, [email protected]
A place where teens belong, believe (in Jesus) and become (all that God has intended for them to be).

For April, Neighborhood Youth started a new series on The Holy Spirit. In week 1, we covered "Who is the Holy Spirit?", where the students were taught about the Spirit as our helper, advocate and God's presence with us. We concluded the series with "Living a Spirit-Filled Life", teaching how students can daily walk with and rely on the Holy Spirit. We also attended our annual District Youth Retreat—where a total of 13 students and 4 leaders attended. Grades ranged from middle schoolers to high schoolers. The students reported having a great experience and their excitement to go again.

As we look ahead into May, we will begin our next series on Exams, where we will discuss the correlation of tests in school and the exams in life.

WORSHIP & PRODUCTION TEAM
Leader: Mel Neely, [email protected]
We are a diverse community of followers of Jesus Christ, empowered by His Spirit with one heart and one mind to invite and lead in declaring His worth.

The Neighborhood Church Worship & Production team also continues to lift high the name of Jesus through our in person and online services. This April, Mel Neely and Adaora led worship during our Sunday services along with our dedicated team of instrumentalists and vocalists. On Thursday evenings, the team engaged with devotionals encouraging each other to look full on the wonderful face of Jesus by incorporating devotional times led by Eric and Mel. We shared praises and prayer requests, praying for each other and over Neighborhood Church. On Maundy Thursday, we had a foot washing and communion service for the team. It was a powerful time of preparation to serve Easter weekend.

Shout out to Tim Allen for leading acoustic worship at our Sunrise Service on Easter morning!

Praise him with the tambourine and dancing; praise him with strings and flutes!
Praise him with a clash of cymbals; praise him with loud clanging cymbals.
Let everything that breathes sing praises to the LORD ! Praise the LORD !
Psalm 150: 4-6

We are thankful to have a truly multigenerational team with middle school, high school and adult volunteers working together to make our Sunday services in person and online possible. Vance Newsome continues to train with the Production team. He is currently training on livestream under the direction of Solomon Jack and with Bryan Patton on sound and should be serving solo very soon. We are also grateful to welcome Honna Trinkl back to the sound team as she wraps up her Senior year. We are praying for God to bring more workers to serve Him at Neighborhood Church! We had our Worship & Production team meeting on April 19. We had a fun lunch together and heard from Pastor Mark on the vision of moving toward a LED screen. Solomon, Jeff and Bryan also shared team updates.

BECAUSE of God’s faithfulness, our Worship & Production Team is living on mission as a multi-
ethnic, multigenerational team being transformed by Jesus, empowered by the Holy Spirit and
inviting the Neighborhood Church family to be launched on mission with them!

NEIGHBORHOOD GROUPS
Leader: Pam Homan, Matt Sale & Mark Trinkl, [email protected]
A place for making friends, inviting God's transformation through Scripture and prayer, and being launched on mission together.

Neighborhood Groups concluded during the month of March. Neighborhood Groups continue to be the primary way that people connect with one another and share life together. Some highlights from the churchwide survey about what the most impactful part of their group experience include: group discussions, meeting new people and forming and strengthening friendships, praying together, hearing about people's experiences with God and what God is saying to them, and discussing lessons learned from Scripture together.

Looking towards the summer, one opportunity to connect with others is through Triads. A Triad is an intentional relationship with you, Jesus, and two other people as part of the Discipleship Pathway to have holistically healthy (head, heart, hands) disciples of Jesus who multiply disciples and churches at Neighborhood Church. This relationship is not meant to fix your problems, give advice, or diagnose. It is a safe place to come as you are, sit with God and others, and invite them into more of your life through daily practices and occasional meetings. Information about Triads for the summer of 2026 will be announced soon.

Another opportunity to connect is through the Summer Women's Book Club. We will be reading the book "Invitation to Retreat." In our last church-wide survey, the practice of silence and solitude ranked the highest as a spiritual practice that people want to grow in over the next six months. This book will guide us through the practice of retreat. We will then offer a women's silent retreat to practice the discipline of silence and solitude. You can join the book club without going on the retreat, and you can go on the retreat without being part of the book club. The Book Club will meet three times throughout the summer at the home of Melanie Neely. Please contact Pam Homan, [email protected] or Melanie Neely, [email protected] for more information on the book club and the silent retreat.

MISSIONS TEAM
Leader: Natalie, [email protected]
To see the people of Neighborhood Church launched on mission to share and show Jesus from our neighbors to the nations. (Acts 1:8)

- Continued to support our local and global partners
- Met together as the El Salvador team & held an envelope fundraiser. Thank you to everyone that gave!
- Looking forward to the Market and El Salvador in July!

If you would like to be a part of the team, reach out to Natalie. Our hope and prayer is that all of Neighborhood Church would pray, give, go, send.

WELCOME TEAM
Leader:  Contact Rose Ojwiga, [email protected]
We will be a community that is authentic, transparent & creates space for real relationships (Acts 2:42)

April was with a good turn up to see many visitors joined us to celebrate Easter together. Every Sunday there was a new person to worship with us. Thank God for all our church members who made it to worship.
